Glencoe, Highland Proposal

Little White Cottage, Glencoe, Scottish Highlands, Scotland, Wedding Proposal

Mairéad & Jordan got engaged in the Scottish Highlands in Glencoe, more specifically the most famous little white cottage around and it was perfect! There were gaps of sun, cloud and even rain… What a shock, but it made for some atmospheric conditions.

Jordan got in touch with me after being neighbours for several years and after having gone our separate ways, still kept in touch through the magical world of Facebook. He asked to meet for dinner one night and laid out his plan of how he wanted to do it. After a lengthly catch up and some fine tuning we hatched the best way to go about him popping the question.

The plan was simple, I am just starting out in photography and had ran a facebook competition for a couple to have some photos in Glencoe so I can build my portfolio and Jordan had won. The key factor was that Mairéad didn’t figure who I was by doing what you girls do best… Investigate! I played dumb all the way through, acting nervous and shy about asking them to even hold hands and I even got quizzed about what type of photography I’d done prior. It all seemed to be going well.

I had suggested that we use three popular locations finishing up at the little cottage as the finale of what would have been a fun thing for them to do as a couple and me ‘building my portfolio’. After a short walk around the river I got myself in to position trying out some ‘new’ poses for some last minute fun and Jordan had his cue to go for it. At this point the heavens opened and I felt excitement and guilt making them both stand in the rain but as it got to its heaviest Mairéad turned and was in utter disbelief at the sight of Jordan down on one knee on the grass in the rain.

She of course said yes and they had a few moments before I trudged my through the thick grass and bog to greet and congratulate them, it really was just amazing. It doesn’t happen very often but getting to photograph a unique moment in someones life that you know just hits a little bit different. I truly wish them all the best!
